(This is a mock brief and is not associated with or endorsed by Channel 4 or related parties) Channel 4’s in-house agency 4creative recently launched new branding for the Channel 4 brand. Each identity now incorporates the original black Lambie-Nairn Channel 4 logo more prominently to emphasise that they are all part of the same company.
While that emphasis has made it clear you are watching a Channel 4 service, it is, in my humble opinion, at the expense of originality. Each channel has lost its character that the previous branding had created.
The brief is to bring back the individual character of each channel, while still making it clear you are watching a Channel 4 service. Each proposed logo takes inspiration from its predecessor and the channel name, with idents to match.
